Base44 Review (2026): Pricing, Credits and Alternatives
Base44 is an AI app builder that creates and deploys full-stack web applications from plain-language prompts. It generates the frontend, backend, database, login and hosting for you, so you can go from a description to a working app without setting up a development stack.
Building an app and building a business are different jobs.
This Base44 review covers what Base44 does, what every plan costs, how its message and integration credits work, which parts of the work stay with you, and the best Base44 alternatives in 2026. Everything about Base44 here comes from its own pricing page and documentation, checked on October 8, 2026.
Our verdict: Base44 helps you build an app. Leapd builds the business around it and works on getting you customers.
- Choose Base44 if you want an app-building tool and are prepared to direct the product and operate your marketing yourself.
- Choose Leapd if you want an AI co-founder to build the product, decide what to build next, and take on the ongoing growth. Start free and then $39/mo.

What is Base44?
Base44 is an AI app builder and AI website builder. You describe what you want in plain language, and the platform generates a working application. You do not assemble a frontend, backend, database and hosting environment yourself.
Base44 is part of Wix. Its site describes it as a no-code AI platform for building apps, websites and AI agents.
The idea is simple: you describe, Base44 builds, you test, you refine, you publish. That puts Base44 in the category often called vibe coding, where everyday language replaces most hand-written code. We compared that wider field in our guide to the best vibe coding tools.
The output is an application and not only a set of pages. A Base44 AI app builder project can include login, data storage, backend logic, integrations and payments.
How does Base44 work?
Base44 uses a conversational workflow with four steps.
1. Describe the application
You start with a prompt, for example: "Build a customer portal where users can log in, view their projects and submit requests."
2. Base44 creates the application
The platform generates the interface, the application logic, the database structure and the login system.
3. Refine it through AI
You keep prompting to add features, change layouts or fix problems. Each of those requests spends message credits. Small visual changes can be made by hand in the visual editor, which does not use credits.
4. Publish and operate it
Hosting is included, and paid plans let you connect your own domain. From the Builder plan up, the app can sync with GitHub.
What Base44 includes
- Backend and storage, with no server or database to configure.
- Login and user management for the people who use your app.
- Integrations with tools such as Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Drive, HubSpot and Salesforce.
- Payments, through Stripe or Base44 Payments.
- Analytics for traffic and sales inside the app.
- Superagents, AI agents you build to automate workflows and connect to your tools.
- A free plan for testing the workflow before you pay.
Each item is a building block. You choose which ones to use, write the prompts that assemble them, and decide what comes next.
Leapd works the other way round. You give it one sentence, and its AI business builder returns the market research, the positioning, a business name, a live website and a business email address. Then it keeps deciding and building.
Where Base44 leaves the work to you
Base44 is built for producing software. Four parts of starting a business sit outside that, and they are worth knowing before you choose.
Credit usage is hard to predict
The subscription price is one part of the cost. Base44 spends message credits while you build and integration credits when your app uses its built-in services. Builders who iterate heavily, debug often or build AI-heavy apps need to watch both balances.
You supervise the product
Plain-language development still needs product judgment. As requirements get more complicated, you are the one who checks that the app does what you meant and spots where the AI read a request differently.
You decide what to build
Base44's workflow runs on three questions. What should I build? You tell it. What should I change? You tell it. What should I build next? You decide.
You operate the marketing
Base44 has added a Marketing Agent, a Google Ads workflow, social content generation and an SEO and GEO scan. They give you plans, drafts and checklists. Setting them up, approving them and running them every day is still the founder's job.
This matters most to someone reading a Base44 review because they want to start a business, not only build software.
Base44 pricing: every plan in 2026
Base44 pricing has a free plan and four paid plans. Each comes with a monthly allowance of two kinds of credits.
| Plan | Price, billed annually | Message credits per month | Integration credits per month | What the plan adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 25 (no more than 5 a day) | 100 | Core features, up to 5 apps |
| Starter | $16 a month | 100 | 2,000 | Unlimited apps, in-app code edits, connect a domain |
| Builder | $40 a month | 250 | 10,000 | AI model selection, GitHub integration |
| Pro | $80 a month | 500 | 20,000 | Early access to beta features |
| Elite | $160 a month | 1,200 | 50,000 | Premium support |
Base44 says annual billing saves 20%, which puts the month-to-month prices at about $20, $50, $100 and $200. There is also custom Enterprise pricing.
Two costs sit outside the plan price. Google Ads campaigns created in Base44 are billed separately from the subscription. Third-party services you connect, such as Stripe, bill you directly.
Is Base44 free?
Base44 has a $0 plan. It includes:
- 25 message credits a month, with no more than 5 in a day
- 100 integration credits a month
- Up to 5 apps
- Login, database functionality and analytics
When you reach the daily limit, anything that uses credits pauses until the next day. Base44's own estimates put a complex change at about 2 message credits, so five a day covers a few changes. The free plan is a way to test the product, not a development budget.
How much does Base44 cost in practice?
What you can do on a plan depends on how fast you spend credits. Base44 publishes these rough ranges for message credits:
| Kind of change | Typical message credits |
|---|---|
| Simple visual or text change | About 0.5 |
| Improving a small feature | About 1 |
| Adding a complex module | About 2 |
| Large or app-wide change | About 3 to 4 |
On the Starter plan's 100 message credits, that is roughly 50 complex changes or 25 to 33 app-wide ones in a month. Base44 states that these figures are estimates, that the real cost is calculated after the action runs, and that the amounts can change at its discretion.
So the full cost is the subscription, plus the build credits you use, plus what your live app spends on built-in services.
How Base44 credits work
Base44 has two credit types, and they run at different times.
Message credits
Message credits are used while you build. They are spent when you ask the AI to build a feature, modify one, fix logic, change the design or debug a problem. Manual edits in the visual editor do not use them.
Integration credits
Integration credits are used when your finished app calls Base44's built-in services. Base44 lists these typical costs:
- Sending an email: about 1 credit, or about 2 from your own domain.
- Generating an image: about 1 credit.
- Generating a video: about 5 credits for each second.
- Running an AI model call: about 1 credit on the automatic model, and from about 3 on a model you pick.
- A message to an in-app AI agent: from about 3 credits.
Message credits are about building. Integration credits are about running the finished app. A simple app with heavy AI usage can need far more integration credits than a larger app that uses none.
Do Base44 credits roll over?
No. Base44's documentation says unused credits expire when they reset, which is monthly on paid plans. It lists one exception: when you upgrade from one monthly plan to a higher monthly plan, unused credits carry over for one more cycle.
Two more rules matter when you plan a budget:
- You cannot preview the cost. Base44 says there is no way to preview an integration credit cost before running an action.
- Running out pauses the work. When you reach your limit, actions that use credits stop until the next reset, unless you upgrade.
Base44's marketing tools: what do they actually do?
Marketing is now part of Base44's dashboard. That changes the comparison with other app builders, so it is worth looking at what each tool does.
Marketing Agent
The Marketing Agent drafts a marketing plan for your app: recommended channels, metrics, a budget and optional competitor research. You answer its questions and act on the tasks. It is available for web apps only.
Google Ads
You can create Google Ads campaigns from the dashboard. Every campaign is a Google Performance Max campaign, with no option to run another type, and you can have 2 active at a time. You set the budget, assets, keyword themes and locations.
Social content
Base44 suggests up to 3 platforms and writes 3 post variations for each. You review them, then edit, copy or share them yourself.
SEO and GEO
A scan returns a score of Low, Moderate or High with a checklist. The "Fix with AI" button prepares a prompt for the AI chat, which you then send.
The pattern is the same in all four: Base44 helps you do the work, and you operate the work.
How Leapd handles the same work
Leapd does the work. Its AI agents run as one team:
- An ad agent that makes the creatives, launches the campaigns on Meta and Google, and optimizes them.
- Email campaigns and outreach sent to qualified prospects.
- LinkedIn and X/Twitter posts published in your voice.
- Search and AI search content written to be found in Google and in AI answers. You can check where you stand today with the AI visibility checker.
- A report each morning on what was done and what happens next.
See how the go-to-market side and AI search visibility work.
Is Base44 legit?
Yes. Base44 is a real AI software platform and part of Wix.
The more important question is whether its approach fits what you are trying to do. Base44 will build a working application. Whether that is enough depends on whether you want an app or a business, which the comparison below covers.
Is Base44 safe?
Base44's documentation covers login settings, access roles, data permissions and a security scan for apps built on the platform. These are settings and checks you configure and run for your own app.
As with any platform where you build a real application, security depends on how the app is set up and what data it handles. For sensitive or regulated work, check the platform against your own security and compliance requirements.
Is Base44 worth it?
That depends on the outcome you want.
Base44 fits when the objective is the app itself, and you plan to keep control of what gets built and to run the business yourself.
Most people have a wider objective: start the company, work out what to build, launch it, find customers and keep improving it, without personally operating every step. For that objective, Leapd is the answer. It covers the whole path: idea, product, roadmap, launch, customers and ongoing growth. More than 1,000 businesses have been launched on Leapd.
Base44 vs Leapd
The difference is what happens around the app.
| Base44 | Leapd | |
|---|---|---|
| Working web app from plain language | Yes | Yes |
| Frontend, backend and database | Yes | Yes |
| Login and user accounts | Yes | Yes |
| Hosting and your own domain | Yes, domain on paid plans | Yes |

| Decides what to build next | You | Leapd |
| Ads | Google Performance Max campaigns you create, 2 active at a time | An ad agent makes the creatives and runs the campaigns on Meta and Google |
| Email campaigns and outreach to prospects | Not in Base44's documentation | Yes |
| LinkedIn and X/Twitter | Draft posts you copy or share | Published in your voice |
| Search and AI search visibility | A scan and a checklist | Audits, fixes and published content |
| Ongoing operating loop | You prompt and manage | Leapd decides, builds and reports each morning |
"Not in Base44's documentation" means the feature did not appear in Base44's documentation index when we checked it on October 8, 2026.
Base44 helps you build an app. Leapd builds the business around it and works on getting you customers.
- Choose Base44 if you want an app-building tool and are prepared to direct the product and operate your marketing.
- Choose Leapd if you want an AI co-founder to build the product, decide what to build next, and take on ongoing growth.
Base44 pricing vs Leapd pricing
Base44 starts at $0 and goes up to $160 a month on annual billing. The subscription buys a monthly allowance of message and integration credits. Every prompt, every fix and every email your app sends draws the balance down, and ad spend is on top.
Leapd's price buys work. You start free, and Leapd builds the core business: the research, the positioning, the business name, the website and the business email address. The next step is $39/mo, and that is where Leapd keeps building the product and goes to work on customers. Current plans are on the Leapd pricing page.
The choice is between paying for an app-building platform and paying for the business to be built and grown.
Base44 alternatives
People look for an alternative to Base44 for two reasons. Some want a different app builder. Most want what the app was supposed to lead to, which is a business.
Leapd
Leapd is the strongest Base44 alternative for founders. It is an AI co-founder that works out what to build, builds it, and then acquires customers with ad campaigns, email and content.
Lovable
Lovable is an AI app builder that generates software from prompts. Its job is "build my app". You still decide what to build and run the marketing. See Leapd vs Lovable.
Replit
Replit is a browser-based development environment with AI built in. It suits a more hands-on development workflow, and it waits for your next instruction. See Leapd vs Replit.
Bolt
Bolt is a prompt-driven app builder. It produces the application, and turning that application into a business stays with the founder. See Leapd vs Bolt.
Emergent
Emergent is an AI app builder that creates software from a description. Emergent vs Base44 is a choice between two builders with the same concern: getting the product built. See Leapd vs Emergent.
Claude Code and Cursor
Claude Code and Cursor are AI coding tools for people comfortable working in code. They write software. Strategy, positioning and customer acquisition are outside what they do.
We covered the builders in more depth in our guide to the best no-code app builders.
Base44 vs Lovable: which should you choose?
Base44 and Lovable are both ways to get an app from prompts. Base44 leans on its managed backend, database, login and hosting. Lovable leans on its frontend and development workflow.
Neither one decides your roadmap or brings in customers. If what you want is a business that gets built and grown, choose Leapd.
Base44 vs Replit: which is better?
Base44 is centered on an all-in-one app-building experience with managed infrastructure. Replit is closer to a full development environment where AI and coding work together.
With both, the founder still decides what to build and how to find customers. Leapd takes on both.
Base44 vs Claude Code or Cursor
Base44 vs Cursor and Base44 vs Claude Code are the same comparison. Claude Code and Cursor are for developers who want direct control over code. Base44 is for people who want to describe an application instead of writing it.
Leapd sits at a different level. Its job is the product and the go-to-market around it, not only the code.
Already built on Base44? Bring it to Leapd
You do not have to throw away an existing Base44 app. Give Leapd the URL, and it works from the product you already have. That includes:
- New landing pages and product improvements
- Ad campaigns on Meta and Google, with the creatives made for you
- Email campaigns and outreach
- LinkedIn and X/Twitter activity
- AI search visibility
Base44 built the product. Leapd turns it into a business.
If you have not built anything yet, start with the tool that matches where you are:
- No idea yet: the business idea generator gives you one backed by real businesses.
- An idea and nothing else: the AI business builder turns it into a named business with a website and a business email address.
- You only need the site: the AI website builder writes it from your description.
Frequently asked questions
What is Base44?
Base44 is an AI app builder and AI website builder that is part of Wix. You describe what you want in plain language and it generates the frontend, backend, database, login and hosting for a working web application. Base44 builds the app you describe. Leapd starts one step earlier and keeps going: it turns an idea into a named business with a website and a business email address, then runs the growth.
Is Base44 legit?
Yes. Base44 is a real product and part of Wix. The more important question is whether an app builder matches what you want to end up with. If the goal is a business with customers, Leapd is the fit: it builds the product and then does the work of finding customers.
Is Base44 good?
Base44 does the job it describes, which is turning a prompt into a working app. You still direct the product and run the business around it. For a founder, Leapd is the better choice because it does both parts: it decides what to build, builds it, and runs the ads, email and content that bring customers in.
Is Base44 worth it?
It depends on the outcome you are paying for. Base44's subscription buys an app builder and a monthly credit allowance. Leapd's price buys the work of building and growing the business: start free, then $39/mo.
Is Base44 free?
Base44 has a free plan with 25 message credits a month, no more than 5 in a day, plus 100 integration credits and up to 5 apps. Base44's own estimates put a complex change at about 2 message credits, so the daily cap covers a few changes. Paid plans start at $16 a month when billed annually.
How much does Base44 cost?
Base44 costs $0 on the free plan, then $16 a month for Starter, $40 for Builder, $80 for Pro and $160 for Elite, all billed annually. Base44 says annual billing saves 20%, which puts month-to-month prices at about $20, $50, $100 and $200. Google Ads spend is billed separately. Leapd is free to start, then $39/mo.
What are Base44 message credits?
Message credits are spent when you ask Base44's AI to build, change or fix part of your app. Base44 estimates about 0.5 credits for a simple text change, about 2 for a complex module and about 3 to 4 for an app-wide change. Manual edits in the visual editor do not use them.
What are integration credits in Base44?
Integration credits are spent when your finished app uses Base44's built-in services, such as sending an email, generating an image, running an AI model call or answering through an in-app agent. Base44 says there is no way to preview an integration credit cost before running an action.
Do Base44 credits roll over?
No. Base44's documentation says unused credits expire when they reset, which is monthly on paid plans. The one exception it lists is an upgrade from one monthly plan to a higher monthly plan, where unused credits carry over for one more cycle and then expire.
Can Base44 build websites?
Yes. Base44 includes an AI website builder that generates a site from a description. A website is one part of a business. Leapd's AI website builder writes the site from your idea and sets up a business email address with it, after working out who the customer is and what the offer is.
Can Base44 build an app without coding?
Yes. Base44 is designed so you describe the app in plain language. You still write the prompts, review the results and decide each next step. With Leapd you describe the business once, and Leapd decides what to build and builds it.
Can I export my Base44 app?
Yes. Base44 says you own the code you build, and its two-way GitHub sync, available from the Builder plan, puts the source in your own repository. Leapd ships every build to a GitHub repository you own from the start.
What is the best Base44 alternative?
Leapd is the strongest Base44 alternative for founders. Other app builders such as Lovable, Replit and Bolt give you a different way to produce an app. Leapd builds the business: it researches the market, builds the product, decides what to ship next, and runs ad campaigns, email and content to bring in customers. Start free, then $39/mo.
Who are Base44's competitors?
Base44's competitors are other AI app builders, including Lovable, Replit, Bolt and Emergent. Each one turns prompts into a deployed app. Leapd competes on a different job: it builds the product, decides what to ship next, and runs the ad campaigns, email and content that bring customers in.
Base44 vs Lovable: which should a founder pick?
Base44 and Lovable are both AI app builders that turn prompts into a deployed app, and with both you decide what to build next and run the marketing. A founder who wants a business should pick Leapd, which builds the product and runs the growth. See the Leapd vs Lovable comparison for the side-by-side.
Base44 vs Replit: which is better for a new business?
Base44 is a managed app builder, and Replit is closer to a development environment with AI built in. Both wait for your next instruction. For a new business, Leapd is the better choice: it builds the app, decides what to ship next and brings customers to it. See the Leapd vs Replit comparison for the side-by-side.
Base44 vs Claude Code or Cursor: what is the difference?
Claude Code and Cursor are AI coding tools for developers, and Base44 is a prompt-driven app builder for people who do not code. All three produce software and wait for you to say what comes next. Leapd is an AI co-founder: it decides what to build, ships it to a GitHub repository you own, and runs the go-to-market around it.
Can I bring an app I built on Base44 to Leapd?
Yes, and you do not have to rebuild it. Give Leapd the URL of your Base44 app and it works on growth from there: landing pages, ad campaigns on Meta and Google, email campaigns, LinkedIn and X/Twitter, and AI search visibility, with a report each morning.
How do I get customers for a Base44 app?
Point Leapd at your Base44 app's URL. Leapd's ad agent makes the creatives and runs the campaigns on Meta and Google. Leapd also sends email campaigns and outreach to qualified prospects, publishes on LinkedIn and X/Twitter in your voice, and publishes content built to be found in search and AI answers. Inside Base44, the marketing plan, the Google Ads campaign, the SEO scan and the social posts are each yours to set up and run.
Base44 review: final verdict
Base44 is an AI app builder. Its promise is that you describe an application in plain language and get a working product without managing a development stack.
The questions that decide whether a business exists come after that. What should the product become? What gets built next? Who is the customer, and how do they find you? In Base44, those stay with you, and so does operating the marketing tools.
If the job is building software yourself, Base44 does that job. If the job is building a business and getting customers, Leapd is the one built for it, and it is the one we recommend to founders.
Build the business, not only the app
Describe your business in one sentence. Leapd researches the opportunity, builds the product, launches it and works on getting customers.
